Last winter I did some recreational scallop dragging. If you can call 'recreational' spending six hours one day a week in January and February boating off the Maine coast but that's what the license says.
Part of the "fun" is seeing what else comes up from the bottom. I do have a nice collection of bottles and clay pipes.
On our last trip out I found a piece of interesting wood not totally destroyed by the wood bores.
After it dried out I was able to make just one pen from what little was intact.
As usual my photos don't do it justice. There is a slight iridescences seen only in the sun. The wood, oak I believe, has a nice dark patina.
Thanks for looking.
