This is a Magnetic pen with wavy clip, in chrome, from Crooked Mill. Very simple pen with a long body. I love the wavy clip, makes it look "funky". The blank is dyed and stabilized spalted tamarind, from Woodcraft. The finish is Pens Plus. I love how it turned out. Except for the wavy clip, it's very similar to an Artisan Zen pen.

Jim, you come up with the most interesting blanks! This is no disappointment - very interesting and unique. I love green! 👍

I just found out this week that I'm going to be a papa. So I made and engraved this for my son. I'll be making one for my daughter-in-law also.

That looks neat! I like the magnetic pen look! I did a quick check on the website but can't find the length of the tube; do you have that handy (or an approximation)? My drill press doesn't go very far (the table doesn't drop far enough for tall pen drilling) and lathe drilling can't happen until I get a chuck set. But I'm intrigued by this model!

I believe the tube is a little over 3", but I don't remember how much over. It's the same as the Zen pen, but none of the instructions list the tube length. I'll measure it when I get home this afternoon. I can remember trying to drill long blanks when I had a smaller drill press. It's frustrating.

Thanks! 3 inches might just be doable if my bit cooperates. Yes… a smaller drill press has been a blessing that came with claws. Mine has a 2 inch travel on a short neck so the table doesn't drop very low (and pen bits are so long that I can't always make it work) and so most blanks I make are a 2 step process, but I still get frustrated (but it's still better than hand drilling!)

I tried to make a "hacked slimline" pen blank (where it has 2 tubes in one long pen blank). I tried 2 of them and both were botched badly so I gave up for now. My hubby wants to get me a Nova 3G set that has a few types of jaws so once I get that, I'll try again. But I love the look of that pen!
