I believe this is the same as Hawaiian Ironwood. Plenty of it here in Hawaii. Have not cut or turned any yet. Is it easy to cut and turn?

Yes it is ,it grows in tough circumstances normal turning,finishing,the species varies a lot I look for timber from this place particularly.

I like your design on this one. That timber is related to lacewood as I think I once read. Looks a lot like fish tail oak. I've made several lacewood pens but have developed a sensitivity to it. You have been busy lately. Love seeing your pens.
