EEE wax or CA

Made some pens with CA finish and EEE wax. I ordered all i need for shine juice and try that also.
I sanded to 600 grit dry, also with the grain, finish with CA, 3 coats thin 4 coats medium, sanded from 1000 to 12000.
The other pen also to 600 grit dry then EEE a few times to sand all scratches. then a kind of white wax, 2 coats and polished.

Not sure but are you asking preference and if so than CA all day every day. Stands up better.

There is a problem with wax as a finish. Most people like the finish . . . until the 3rd or 4th day when it begins to wipe off. Wax is not bad and is good for the wood. But people - seeing the freshly waxed finish - presume that it will stay shiny, but it doesn't because wax wears off. Everyone knows this - except the person who just received the shiny pen.

That was my experience twice, early on in my pen making career. IF I had told the recipient that it needs to be waxed to stay shiny, they would not have been surprised when the wax shine rubbed off.

Hello John, i had some failures with CA lately, so i looked all over youtube and penturner sites.
There are more types of finish so i want to learn all about it. You are right about CA, high gloss and durable this is.
But i want to learn. Also turn other (segmented) items.
I ordered shellack flakes dewachsed blond, boiled linseed oil and denatured alcohol in small quantities to try out.
Also waterbased laquer, waterbased polyurethane and carnauba wax.

I want to learn and share all here.

I agree, but very hard waxes cure somehow. i'll try, learn and share

What is the kit name, please ..... the first pen ..... first 3 pictures ? . . Seems to have a "wrench" or "hand tool" theme.

And where did you buy that kit. . I kinda like it. . It is different.

Go for it. That is what is all about. Try different things and settle on what you think is best for you and your product. Good luck as you travel down these paths.
