Hi Mal,
This one was difficult, drilling was perfect but vey slow. The big drill of the cap (13.2 mm) while the cap was 20 mm square.
The CA finish was not perfect again! The dna was used, thin CA 2 coats. It doesn't penetrate the wood enough.
Plastic bushings (homemade) were a pain getting off the blanks. So i'll buy some friction polish, or make it myself for this type of wood.

The wenge is ok but the red wood, merbau, (Intsia bijuga) is not a CA-wood.

Peter, this is excellent work! All segmented penturners/woodturners will appreciate the effort put into this. Yes, finishing is a final task, with many variables. I do not see any issues, but realize that the turner is much more fussy of what we see on a screen. I like your combination of materials and the segmenting with scallops.

I prefer homemade Delrin bushings for a CA finish.

Excellent artistry! ;)

Beautiful pen Peter. Great craftsmanship. My goal for 2021 is to focus more on segmented wood pens and your pen provides great inspiration. Thank you for sharing.
