In his tutorial http://content.penturners.org/articles/2007/pressurepot.pdf Steve Swiger takes the HF vacuum pump apart and removes the "vacuum block" and puts it in line. I'm not sure why he does that? I've IM'ed him but haven't gotten a reply so I wonder if anyone else has done this and knows why it's advised?

thanks for any assistance

The fittings on the end are of a thread that does not match the quick disconnects. So, take it apart and put a fitting in that allows quick disconnects to be installed.

They must have changed the plans because the fittings on the unit I just got take a normal compression fitting. No need to take it apart.

Thanks,

Montmill

That's great. I use mine all the time. The possible other reason to take it apart is the large reduction in size when you get rid of the huge plastic cover. But, in my shop that might not be a good idea with all the things I have in there......:beat-up:

Fred,

That was exactly my thought. I don't need anything hanging out all by itself waiting to get bumped off. Much easier IMO to pull the vacuum, then put the pump away and put the paint pail on it's shelf in the stair well to work it's magic.
