This will be the thread to post information pertinent to our efforts to help our brother Ron (RAdams). Let's try not to clutter this thread up with conversational posts as I am going to have to weed through them to get to the important stuff.

For now, I'd like to have anyone who would like to donate an item or items to Post here or PM me. I will create a spreadsheet detailing who is donating what. It be very helpful if you would take a decent picture of your item and email it to me.

What I am thinking of doing is putting up a gallery on my website for you all to be able to look at the items. Once all of that is accomplished, we will begin selling off tickets, which could very well turn out to be worth precisely the value of one of those items. That is just a rough sketch of what we have so far. Changes might be made in an effort to streamline the process and save as much money as possible.

For those of you who would just like to donate cash and don't want to participate in the raffle, please contact me via PM. I can accept most any form of payment except chickens and goats.

Let me know if you have any questions.

customgunfinish.com would like to donate a $100.00 gift certificate. I dont have much but I can offer services. This duracoating is not just for guns, you could have tools, pens, knives and just about anything else duracoated any color. Whoever gets the certificate will receive a coupon code..

I hope it helps..

I'm in for a raffle ticket when they go on sale. PM me an address to send something... Dunno what just yet. I'll find out tomorrow when I go inventory the garage.

Ihave some things that were inherited that I have been selling on E-bay, I can donate the proceeds from a couple of the sales to the cause. Also I too would buy a raffle ticket if there is going to be such a thing.

There really can't be any thing called a raffle, but I think there will be some very nice individually numbered pieces of collectible paper that can be purchased, and who knows some day in the very near future some one will want to trade something of a higher value for one of these pieces of collectible paper, I'm going to donate two Woodchuck tools, one Pen Pro and one Bowl Pro.
Any thing you would like to donate contact either Chris or my self, although I got lucky and found someone with a kind heart and a soft head to do most of the work. I spoke with Ron yesterday, and he was kind of dumbstruck that a bunch of people he's never met would go to this kind of trouble for him. Shana Marie Doesn't know about this or Didn't know yesterday but let's just pray that the Chemo works and if necessary that Radiation is used, it won't be unbearable, I imagine her husband and little baby are feeling kind of tensed out. Just find what you can to donate, don't go nuts, and think good positive thoughts they help a lot..
Chris should have a website up shortly for this so we can see what's up for grabs.

Is this being marketed to only IAP members? I ask because I am trying to decde what to donate. I doubt that a donation of a pen or two would serve much purpose if the target audience is a group of penmakers.

Well worded. I'll donate a box of blanks, I'll get a photo to you soon.

I was thinking the same thing. I have folks out on the webs that would love to participate for such a cause, but aren't interested in tools and such.

I for one, would not be unhappy receiving a handcrafted pen in an event like this. Remember, it is an effort to help a fellow human being, so whatever is in your heart to donate, just go with that. I doubt that there will be any complaints about the gifts we receive.

One other note: This should be obvious, but just in case there are questions in anyone's mind, I will not be purchasing little pieces of paper that may or may not become ore valuable in the weeks to come. Since I will be running this event, my donation will be in the form of a couple sets of blanks, and I will not be eligible to benefit from the possible increase in value of these little pieces of paper.

I believe most types of gift cards, or even a check would serve well ron and Shana will encure expenses traveling to the hospitals, and there is this little bitty Okie that will have to be cared for, and them little suckers consume vast amounts of Groceries even when over at Grandpa's

I would think gas money for transportation, things like that, and surely they might have need of a nicely turned pen or bowl or something in return for their donation, maybe a hand made top for their kiddies, I think some of us can do more than just pens, heck some of you guys might even do them nicely.

Chris

Chris I'm with you, I'll also just send some money, but I don't want any thing in return or to be in line to get any thing. I just want to help a brudda out,

I want to donate something as well, however what I will donate will depend if this is for the IAP or for other site. I would love to send cash, but I am still on unemployment:frown:

What other site?

The official position of the IAP for certain legal reasons can't allow any fund raising on the site for members due to some problems in the past, We can however do it on our own but not as non official function of the IAP.

SO Chris is setting up a gallery on his own website to display what items these little pieces of paper that you will be able to buy could be traded for is that happens to be the one that there is a desire for this particular piece of paper, I believe the standard price of these pieces of paper will be 5.00 each or possibly 6 of them for 25.00, this is the usual arrangement.

On a given day pieces will be selected and who ever has that piece can trade it for a specific item. there will likely be pen kits, groups of blanks, tools, the sort of things that most pen turners have uses for.

The proceeds of the sales of these will all go to Ron Adams to help his Daughter, but please don't consider this an official function of the IAP it's not!!!.

Jeff is being very kind in allowing this to be posted on his site, since it will help direct folks toward the actual fundraiser site. All the proceeds ALL will be given to Ron Adams, none will be kept for Chris or any one else other than Ron.

I started this and Chris was kind enough to help pick up the ball and run with it, Please feel assured that there will be a full and accurate accounting of all the money and prizes donated to the fund, and no Bernie Madoff book keeping will be happening

if any one has any questions, my phone number is on my Woodchuck Tools Website, feel free to ask, (please just don't call after 10:00pm or before 8:00am CDT)

Thanks
Ken Ferrell

That should help clear things up, well said.:biggrin:

I haven't sent anything, because I'm not clear on the target audience...? It's been talked about but either not clarified, or I missed it.

Don,

Figure you're audience to be woodworkers/turners...etc. But don't let that stop you from tossing in a pen rather than just blanks. Who wouldn't mind winning a custom, handcrafted, one-of-a-kind pen made by.....

.....YOU?
